At the start of this tour, the lead tour guide (all of the people who lead the tours and the ones we found at each exhibit were our brothers and sisters) made this announcement: "Please fasten your seat belts,
if you any." Just thought that was too funny not to share!
Typical Farm - Coastal Life
Stacy joined me for the afternoon tours. We had lunch on a 150 year old fisherman's farm right off the Gulf of Finland. Everything was very tiny - but well preserved. In fact, the roof material is grown naturally in the Gulf and can last over 100 years withstanding high winds, rain and snow. This stuff is so good, now the wealthy want to get it for their homes.
Kadriorg Palace and Gardens
The palace was built for Catherine I of Russia by Peter the Great. It currently houses foreign art (many replicas) of foreign art from the 16th - 19th centuries. The exhihbit is quite extensive - has been called the Mini Louvre (can you imagine going to 2 Louvres in one trip!!!)
Outside of the palace were amazing gardens - worthy of a postcard. And once again, the friends did a magnificent job in giving us a sense for the way things were. . . . The costumes were absolutely gorgeous!
Cool. I can't believe I almost missed this post.
